Derbyshire Progression to Work

The Derbyshire Progression to Work scheme supports people with a learning disability aged 19 and over to access employment opportunities.

It is co-financed by Derbyshire County Council and the European Social Fund. Every member of the scheme will receive an individually tailored, one-on-one support package to meet their needs, as detailed below.

  • Matrix accredited information, advice and guidance.
  • Pre-employment training.
  • Work and voluntary placements. We organise work and voluntary placements with real employers and work taster sessions to help clients decide the kind of job they want.
  • Job search support. This includes support with letter writing, CVs and filling in applications, interview skills and support at interviews.
  • Soft skills development, such as confidence building and personal presentation.
  • Travel training. We support clients to learn new bus routes so they are able to get to placements, jobs or courses. We can also provide transport to and from work placements.
  • Vocational training. We also signpost to our partner organisations for specific training needs.
  • In job support, and job coaching in the workplace. Our job trainers give clients one-to-one support to help them learn a job and settle into a new workplace.
  • Post employment support, including support for employers, help with career progression and sustained employment.
